How to Prepare for General Awareness in SSC EXAM ?

Step 1:
First go though the syllabus of general awareness which is same for all Exams conducted by SSC.
Syllabus:
Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining
• History,
• Culture,
• Geography,
• Economic Scene,
• General Policy & Scientific Research,
• Current Affairs.
Step 2 :
The pattern of General Awareness asked in previous exam with individual topics are generally from three broad section :
•General Science : This section covers around 35-40% question mainly from Topics Biology, Physics, Computers, Chemistry, Daily Science etc. Out of these around 20-25% question are from Biology alone.
•Current Affairs : This section covers around 10% from areas like recent development in Sports, Awards, Politics, International happening etc. Few question from Finance and Banking also asked in previous exams.
•Miscellaneous : There are few question asked from this section. This section has around 8-10% weightage in the exam. This section covers areas like National schemes, Unusual GK question, Book Name and writer, question from logical analysis, important days etc.
•Static Way : Question in this section asked from static areas like Indian Politics, History and culture, Economy, Geography etc. This section have around 45-50% weightage in GS question.
Step 3:
Strategies to prepare for above sections :
•General Science : Best way to Prepare General science is to refer NCERT science books from class 7 to 10.you can also buy Lucent's General science.
•Current Affairs : For curent affairs you can read pratiyogita darpan, competition in focus etc(of your choice) of the last 12 months.
•Miscellaneous : For Miscellaneous section refer any general knowledge book(lucent, ari

How can one get good marks in engineering services exam's conventional paper?

For acquiring maximum possible marks ( 70-80% of indicated marks)  in a question you may follow some basic rules
  • Write all the given data with unit indicated.
  • Write all the assumptions related to The theory or concept on which the answer is based.
  • While solving numerical always indicate the formula you ve applied.
  • If possible give the line diagram for numerical.
  • While writing theory questions draw the diagram without any criss crosses. Use proper scale . no rough. Its ESE not semester.
  • Use black or green pens along with blue . it creates good impression.
  • Underline important fact in the answer.
  • Always write the unit of answer you get. Mandatory!!
  • Write the answers, step by step in tidy manner to give an impressive presentation and by doing this the candidate will not miss the essential points and formulae. If some diagram is required try to make well labelled and neat diagram with freehand sketch. You will get the credit for orderly, effective, and exact expression combined with due economy of words in the conventional papers of the examination.
  • Write formulae in the numerical, S.I units of concerned quantities and answers as well. Steps to enhance your performance:-

Remember these steps can only be taken if you've practiced a hell lot of time. So that's most important to develop a habit in same manner while preparation.

ESE is all about choosing the best candidate among all. So make sure give your best.
Good luck !!

IES all I know; How to start!

This is for people who are still in their colleges or even jobs and don't have time/money for coaching. IES is not only for coaching guys,i truly believe that!

1) Take a print of ESE your branch syllabus and paste it on your wall. Memorize it.  It is work half done. (Don't ignore or skip it! Please )

2) Buy a thin formula copy, color pens and a thicker ones for each subject.

3) Preferable pattern:
  1. Read Notes: First reading, casually. It takes time to absorb the new words. In second reading, try to associate technical words with their meaning. In third refine, go deeper find the implications, applicability of the concept.
  2. Read book. Notes only give simplified version.Books is where you build your knowledge.Follow the rule of repeated reading given in step 1.
  3. Write concepts in your own words (Notes copy). This is the most crucial step, where you internalise the knowledge gained and put it into tangible form. Consider it your memory/thought tank from Harry potter.
  4. Attack solved questions(with your own bare hands and calculators,no cheating) Got struck? Don't worry, Go to step 3,2,1,in same order. Update your own notes copy,if you find anything missing. Look at the solved question, compare.
  5. Write formulas/units/tips down( Formula copy) Again a vital component of your preparation. Without formula copy, you are a soldier in foreign territory without a map. You might not use it or read it but you can explore it whenever you get lost.
  6. Try to solve unsolved questions. We read,we forget,we write,we forget, but we do, we remember. Visualise the neural connections in your brain being made when you struggle with the application of the concepts you just read. These will help you fight questions in exam.
  7. Mark the ones you find interesting These are your enemies which will destroy you in battlefield until conquered. Encounter them, before you go to battlefield. After all you want to save time for new enemies in exam.
At any point if time, don't get frustrated. Pick up yourself and hit again, this time real hard, harder than the last time.

Perseverance is the key.

Okay, one more quote I read which helped me in my preparation.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE SSC JUNIOR ENGINEER EXAM

The first step is to go through the syllabus for the exam on the official website of SSC. This will give you a general idea of the topics you need to prepare. Once you go through the syllabus write down the topics you have absolutely no idea about and try to start preparing these topics first. This will give you more time to prepare topics that you know nothing about instead of keeping these till the end when you might be tempted to completely skip that topic!
The next step is to get the appropriate books to start your preparation. You need to get the SSC exam books which are designed for the purpose of the SSC exam. Make sure you buy the book for each section of the paper so you do not have to worry about its credibility.
It is difficult to plan your day and incorporate study hours if you aren’t used to studying every day. But cracking the SSC Junior Exam will need dedication and it is best if you learn time management. Make a study schedule starting with topics you don’t know at all and then mix it up with one familiar topic a week. This will help you to not overburden yourself with something new every day. You need to be careful of sticking to this schedule and being true to yourself. Success doesn’t come easy and so does study.
In case you have a doubt in any topics, don’t keep it pending till the last day. Clear your doubts while you still have them. You will be tempted to give up on a topic because it might seem too difficult but the trick is to not leave out any topic. Be prepared for everything so you can increase your chances of a high score.
Time management applies not only to the time you take out to study but also on how you utilize those 4-5 hours every day. Try to come up with methods to solve questions faster so you wouldn’t be wasting a lot of time during the exam. This will help you answer all the questions within the allotted time.
Work on your speed. Your success in clearing the test depends on those 2 hours that you will be writing the paper. Practice more to improve your speed. Every time you solve a question put yourself on a timer and try to beat your score each time you do it.
Make your weaknesses your strength. This basically means working harder on the topics you find extremely difficult. Remember you have enough and more time to prepare and with regular practice and honest dedication these weaknesses can become your strong areas. Make yourself confident in your weak areas by continuous practice and constant revaluation.
Practice previous years question papers and answer them like you are attempting the real exam. Give yourself 2 hours and try to finish within that time. When you are answering the questions read them properly and only answer those that you are sure about because of the negative marking. Adapting yourself to the exam environment can help take away any fear related to the exam.
A lot of candidates fail in the test because they are not able to attempt all the questions. Do not get stuck on a single question and lose out on half the marks. Be wise with your time.
Make practice tests a routine so that you never forget to do them. These will help you get a sense of the questions that will be asked in the exam along with the opportunity to practice them within the allotted time.
Give yourself ample amount of written practice. Try and incorporate study in everything that you do. Find fun ways of studying so you do not get bored. Be focused on your goal and do not let anything shift your focus. A little hard work every day will bring a lot of success for the rest of the years!

I.E.S EXAM PATTERN and SUCCESS TIPS

IES Exam Pattern
1. The Examination shall be conducted according to the following plan:
Part I— The written Examination will comprise two sections—Section I consisting only of objective types of questions and Section II of conventional papers. Both Sections will cover the entire syllabus of the relevant engineering disciplines viz. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. The details of the written Examination i.e. subject, No. of questions, duration and maximum marks allotted to each subject are given below.
Part II— Personality test carrying a maximum of 200 marks of such of the candidates who qualify on the basis of the written examination.
SUCCESS TIPS-
-----------------------------
-Among all the career options available for engineers across domains, i.e. in private, public and government sectors still the best, prestigious and coveted career remains that of esteemed Indian Engineering Services(IES).
-Through Indian Engineering Services (IES) a candidate gets a career in most reputed government departments like Indian Railways, Military Engineering Services, C entral Engineering Services,Telecommunication Department, Central Water Services and other esteemed departments.
-In Indian Engineering Services (IES), an Engineer gets an opportunity to handle technically challenging roles and tasks technically, which have a direct bearing on the building up of infrastructure and services of our nation.
-Strategy for the Engineering Services Examination, The foundation of success can be laid on the resolute efforts but a sound strategy accompanied by never say die spirit makes the recipe of success.
-Success can’t be achieved overnight hence a prudent strategy matters a lot.
-For success in Engineering Services Exam, a candidate is required to have excellent fundamentals in the core subjects, along with thorough update on general awareness, current affairs and no less, all the traits of matured personality.
-Following subsequent points will be worth mentioning and aspirants should necessarily keep a note of the same viz:
-Get acquainted with the latest examination pattern and syllabus of the exam. Go through the previous year's question papers. Compare them and see what types of questions are repeated every year.
-It is advisable not to go refer several books for same topic, instead it is better to refer one good book for each topic, which clarifies basic concepts. Selective books are advisable for selected topics.
-For every candidate time management is very essential along with the setting of target. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is apt in his words “One always has time enough, if one will apply it well.”

The first step which every candidate should follow is to make a time table. Take one subject from each section of your technical syllabus and devote at least 3 hours daily to it. Try to devote 1 hour each to English and General Studies so that you can take an edge as it is key differentiator for being in top rankers.
-Manage your time table such that it has good distribution of study hours for General Ability Section and technical papers, as it makes studies enjoyable and it becomes easy to sustain the momentum for longer hours, without boredom setting in and without losing interest and enthusiasm.
-It is always better to prepare short term plan of study, which should be framed in mind and executed.
-While studying the technical subjects don’t forget to make short notes of important topics. Make a separate list of formulae for each subject and revise the short notes and formulae list daily.
-After completion of the topic solve all previous year questions and practice other questions which are available in good books. This will help you to assess yourself for level of understanding of the subject.
-When you are solving the question set the time limit and after the completion of it check whether you have completed the task within stipulated time or not.
-It is better to practice questions on OMR sheets for marking the answers, which will help to practice the marking of correct answers on OMR sheets quickly in the examinations.
-After completion of it take another subject and follow the same guidelines and don’t forget to revise the important portion and your short notes of the subject which you have prepared earlier.
-While preparing the English, segregate the vocabulary from previous 10 years paper of Engineering Services Examination and Combined Defense Services Examination. Try to memorize at least 20 words daily and don’t miss to revise those words.
-The next step to prepare the portion of English is solve daily 10 to 15 questions based on finding errors and rearrangement of sentences.
-From the topics of general studies first of all find out the area of your interest and study it in the form of story or try to correlate the things. It will develop interest and make the things comfortable.

Tips and Strategy for GATE ME

GATE PATTERN
GATE exam is of 100 marks and in mechanical average cut off is between 25 to 30, but may depend on the exam of particular year. there is 70 marks for the all technical part of mechanical side which consist of core mechanical subjects and other part consist of 15 marks engineering mathematics plus 15 marks for aptitude and English.
Heat transfer, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics and Machines, Strength of materials, Theory of Machines, Production Technology, Power plant, RAC and Machine Design, IC engines Engineering mathematics English and Reasoning and Aptitude for me preparing time is less so i left machine design and RAC, but i suggest you to not to leave any of these subjects.i explain how to make this simple.
Strategy
Firstly cover Thermodynamics completely with last 10 years gate papers and after that when you are through with the subject then its time for heat transfer and IC engine cycles i.e. Otto, and diesel cycles. With Thermodynamics it is easy for you to cover heat transfer and understand it easily.
Now when you are done with these subjects then its time for Fluid and power plant subjects, comparatively fluid syllabus is more than power plant, power plant only includes vapour power cycle and steam power cycle. So these are the very important subjects
Now the most important subject according to me is Production. Technology, all last year exam gives you an idea how important is this. In GATE 2013 it consist of 16 marks out of 70. so it makes you feel that how important is this subject, so give sufficient time to this subject to justify its importance. In production technology metal cutting, casting, forming is very very important.
Now subjects Theory of Machines and Strength of Materials have equal importance. Always 7 to 8 marks is expected from these subjects.
Machine design and RAC consist of less marks but never underestimate these subjects as of their importance.
According to me at least 20 to 25 days are requires for the practise after your preparation of all subjects.other subject i.e. maths, Eng. and aptitude also require time for the practise.

HOW TO MAKE PREPARATION SIMPLE Now you are thinking all these subjects done at a time is very difficult to remember. so here the some ways to how to do this:
1. firstly you prepare thermal subjects i.e. Thermodynamics, heat transfer, IC engines.
2. then start fluid along with practise of previous subjects.
3. at the middle of fluid start production and
4. when fluid ends along with of production start some 1 or 2 hour practise of maths, and aptitude.
5. when you all are done then try to give some tests so that to increase your speed.
6. doing all your practise set a time alarm near to you so that every time you can increase your speed.
7. now for machine design and rac if more time is there then go completely through these subjects
8. but if time is not there then try to see last year papers what is they are asking in these subjects and make Strong that topics.
9. 20 to 25 days of complete practise is must.
10. try to maintain daily 8 to 10 hours, is you are able to give more that is up to you soon

I have already posted information regarding gate exam [check on Gate Tab] and list of important gate topics. you can ask for any of your doubt.
keep preparing....

Tips and tricks for solving the papers

Tips and tricks for solving the papers

• The first motto while solving the question papers is to utilize your time optimally.

• The Objective Paper-I consists of 120 questions which are evenly based on English and General Studies. The questions on the topics of rearrangement of sentences and Comprehension are tedious and time consuming so it is suggested to solve those questions after completion of rest of the paper.

• While solving the comprehension part first read the passage then read the questions asked and then mark the lines which are related to the questions.

• If you are not able to solve a particular question then don’t waste your time on it and don’t get disheartened. Move to other questions and solve tough question at the end.

• While solving technical objective papers, try to solve the questions on theory first and then work on numerical questions as there is Negative Marking for each wrong answer and cut off is to be cleared in these papers hence never try to mark those answers on which you are not confident.

• On third day of examination there are two conventional papers. Before solving the paper, first of all read the question paper thoroughly and mark those questions in which you can perform your best.

• Write the answers, step by step in tidy manner to give an impressive presentation and by doing this the candidate will not miss the essential points and formulae. If some diagram is required try to make well labeled and neat diagram with freehand sketch. You will get the credit for orderly, effective, and exact expression combined with due economy of words in the conventional papers of the examination.
• Write formulae in the numerical, S.I units of concerned quantities and answers as well.

Steps to enhance your performance

1. The examination requires consistency, never say die spirit and most important is self motivation. Healthy ideas grow in healthy mind so alongwith studies do devote some time for recreation this will make enhance the memorizing power and efficiency.

2. Keep safely documents related to examination such as acknowledgment of application, hall ticket, application number and other details. This is to avoid last minute tension for obvious things.

3. One day before the examination don’t study much, just revise the important notes which you have made. Relax and sleep for atleast 6 hours so that you write exam with fresh mind.

4. Keep atleast 2 sharpened pencils, eraser, sharpener, 2 pens, calculator, hall ticket, etc. in your examination kit. Leave for your exam timely and don’t study much on the same day during travelling.

8 things i wish someone told me when i waspreparing for IES..

By an Anonymous IES aspirant
I was not perfect. No one in my whole family or friends never actually thought about IES leave alone clearing it. Even when my college friend talked about it in 4 year it was something unachievable at least for (non studious) me.
Now when i look back there is definitely a experience advantage. That's why if one in family become an IAS, his brother, sister, cousins etc have a huge chance of making it into services. Furthermore, 8 things i wish someone told me when i was preparing for IES.. Please don't mock me if you already know!!
1. IES is a damn easy exam of course you need to work your butts off. What i mean to say that in class all the examples we do are the toughest one's. IES is a mix bag of easy, damn easy and little difficult one's.Most questions are repetitive.Once you have understood the concepts, they all seem the
same.
2. Objective exam is much easier to score but you need to do the subjective question's practise to get hold of concepts.Yes, solving only objective one's will give you half knowledge. It's solved questions
in book will give you complete picture and prepare you for new questions just in case.

3. Revise revise revise Your ability to forget is monumentary.I read p k nag thermo at least 10 times sincerely apart from class notes. But my mock interview i had forgotten 2nd law. Just like that. This is the golden rule for success.Don't trust your brain..

4. Comfort level for environment . As you know Delhi has harsh environment. So unlike me (kanjoos makhichoos) invest in a heater in winter and cooler in summers. I recall wasting entire afternoon in summers in my heated up room and morning and nights fighting cold in winters. It's a sheer waste of
time.Buy a comfortable chair and bed and gadda too.Don't think it's for few months, Think of it as an investment for concentration in studies.
5. Don't set a time table when not following it up to hilt gives you frustrations. Just get up and start reading until you feel hungry or tired. If you waste time in getting your body to follow your time table. It's useless.

6. Do not buy foreign author books No matter how much our teachers criticize Indian authors, they are value for money and time. Don't forget you are not here for research purposes, only competitive exam purposes.I bought kalpakjian, popov and tried to read them. You need extra dimag to actually understand them in first place and they were of no use at all.
7. Library Oh God!! how much i wish i had known these library hidden in Delhi when i was preparing. They are such a nice place to sit away from the familiarity and claustrophobic sleepy atmosphere of your room with no one disturbing you. Some even give tea and nice lunch. Most of them have air conditioning and subscription of newspapers and magazines. And they are located near the saket too. Look for them nearby your room and you will find them if your are lucky.
8. NPTEL Videos and others available on you tube. You will be surprised to find huge study material online, But please don't overdo it. Only in your spare time take a look to memorize the concept or understand it.
I've been meaning to tell 10 but i can't recall anymore. Please comment if anything in this post interests you..

Top 10 Mistakes Done By GATE Aspirants

1. Studied wrong / wrongly. Always prefer standard books. A little mistake can lower your GATE rank.
2. Not properly revised after a certain period of time. “Practice makes man perfect.” Revise what you
have studied time to time.

3. Loosing confidence after seeing the questions paper. Don’t worry question paper is also hard for all
others.
4. Your time management in exam was not so good as you thought. Do solve practice papers time to time with time management same as GATE exam.

5. Never prepared Mathematics and General Aptitude upto that level that I prepared Technical. Don’t forget Mathematics and General Aptitude. These subjects have 30% ratio of total marks.
6. Only prepared previous years papers. Previous years papers will help you to analysis GATE exam but will not sure your golden success. You have to do more study other than previous years papers.
7. Didn’t prepared all subjects because there was no time for those. Always prepare a time table then prepare. Being good in all subjects is always better than being master in only one subject.
8. Don’t feel restless and anxious before examination. Before exam day, take proper rest and food.
9. Fear of examination. Fear is obvious, accept it but don’t focus on it much, don’t let it affect your performance in exam.

10. Forgot Admit card or forgot calculator. It is little but general mistake. It happens because of exam pressure. To avoid this, prepare yourself a day before your exam.
“You need not to be perfect in exam. You need to do well as compare to other in exam.”

Is it necessary to join coaching for GATE 2016 ?

How do I prepare for GATE 2016 without coaching? What should be my strategy to start preparing for GATE 2016 self ? You all must have this kind of questions in your mind. Below article will solve this puzzle of yours. Just take a look.”

First of all best wishes to whom who did very well in GATE 2015. Who will get good rank in GATE 2015 will surely get good college for higher education and those who want a job with PSU will surely get selected in PSUs but those who don’t get good rank in GATE 2015 don’t lose hope world hasn’t end here.
You have a great  opportunity again to make it possible this time with a very good GATE rank, it is GATE 2016. Start your preparation again this  time with Little more effort, little more concentrate, little more dedication, little more better analysis and little more hours with study. So, candidates who wish to prepare self make a proper plan for rest of the days and stick to that until GATE 2016 examination.
Those who are preparing self they need more  dedication and concentration because you are the mentor of yourself, you are the examiner of yourself. So beside an aspirant, beside a student you are  also playing a role of examiner of yourself.
Candidates who can not join any coaching or don’t want to join any coaching for GATE 2016 preparation must consider these points. If you can get guidance from any of your senior or any of your friend who have cleared GATE previously. If you can arrange some good coaching institute material.
Remember not a single institute is always good in all subjects but you can arrange a single good  study material as per your requirement by choosing from different-different coaching institutes. If you can manage someone who can guide you time to time then no need to join any coaching because coaching is for mainly save your time but many times it waste your time. If you are serious about GATE 2016 preparation and want to utilize your whole time and if you have studied well at your graduation level  then no need to join coaching just sit on chair and start preparation. You may join any or many test series for last time preparation. I have seen many GATE topper who just read standard book and make in GATE top 10 list.
Those who are preparing with any coaching institute they must Consider some points before joining  any online or off line coaching institute. Before choosing any online or offline coaching institute just look into few points as written below which will help you to select a correct institute for your preparation:

1- If we talk about any offline coaching institute then first thing is whether you want to join coaching
in your city or in other city. If you can join coaching out of your city if your family and all other conditions permits than consider all coaching institute which can help you to get good rank in GATE 2016. Living in your own city may help you in basic daily activities like food, cloths, travelling etc. So if you can prepare well at home then you must check any of good coaching institution available in
your city. If there is no any coaching as per your expectations then you can join coaching other than
your home city.

2- First of all get feedback from some students of a particular institute. You can choose as much as institute as much as you want for analyzing. Analyze experience of student about that particular institute, about their study techniques, study material, problem solving and explanation techniques and individually problem solving sessions like many students always can’t ask question is a full strength classes and they get no more benefits from joining any coaching institute it is like wasting your time while sitting in room like waiting room where you wait to end of the class time.

3- Select any coaching for your GATE 2016 preparation on the basis of your requirement and coaching institutes present performance. Do not choose any institute for study on the basis of how big  his coaching institute is famous. Many students go with big name and they got nothing much like
their name so before get admission in any institute for your GATE 2016 preparation choose any coaching institute wisely because after all it is about your career, your whole one year, your dedication and also about your family because many students are there whose family depend on  them or will be dependent very soon. So every decision of you depends upon many factors.
